Final Post of EDUC-6163

When we survey high-class families about their involvement in their child's education, we can really see what is happening in their familial structure that could benefit other families that do not have much family involvement. It could really be helpful to this field because all teachers are always questioning why some families cannot be more involved. Even if it is a reason that cannot be controlled, it would be eye-opening for all involved.

Early childhood education teachers, and really all teachers, up to the age of 8, or second/third grade, would be able to benefit from this simulation. As an early childhood educator, I would love to learn more about ways to help those children that do not have much parent involvement. I am realistic that this simulation might take a lot of time to

What are some of the ways your perceptions of an early childhood professional have been modified as a result of this course?

For me, personally, I realize how important research is to this profession. I understand why educators go through such rigorous training and how their personal research can help so many other educators in their classrooms.

I want to thank all of my colleagues throughout the past 8 weeks. You all have been extremely helpful for me in understanding the research process.  I hope to work with you all again soon!

  1. I would like to see more research done on how to better involve parents who are unable to participate as much as we would like them to. I think to get more involvement we must understand their family dynamics and then have the resources to help in the areas that they need. Unfortunately, I think some of that is out of our control, and that is where your research will help us find ways to get around the barriers that exist.

  2. Thank you again Leanne for your contribution to our class and my learning. I agree your research quest on family involvement and helping children that need that extra support may be time consuming but I am sure yo will find a lot of useful information along the way.

  3. Hi Leanne, thank you so much for sharing with us your research simulation. I agree that it is a very beneficial research question for educators and staff members involved in the ECE field. We have learned in previous courses the importance of family engagement in the classroom environment. Parents and caregiver are children's first teachers, community, and role models. It is important to know a family's culture and traditions in a child's life at home to see how it impacts their role and behavior in the classroom environment. It was great embarking further in this journey with you and I look forward to growing and learning more with you!
